14. The Vampire’s Crypt of Vocabulary
Suck your students into a world of rich language and advanced vocabulary with a gothic vampire theme. Cover the door in a deep crimson red paper with black velvet borders to mimic the inside of a coffin. Cut out a large, friendly vampire wearing a high-collared cape. Instead of fangs dripping with blood, have the vampire holding a scroll of “Fang-tastic Vocabulary Words.” Surround him with fluttering black bats, each carrying a challenging fifth-grade vocabulary word and its definition. This design is highly visual, culturally relevant, and serves as an excellent daily reference tool for language arts lessons.
