Layered High-Contrast Area Rugs
A single rug under a dining table can sometimes feel lost or expected. Elevate your floor styling by layering two distinct rugs to define the dining zone with maximal texture. Start with a large, low-pile neutral base rug—such as a tightly woven flatweave sisal or jute—to anchor the room and withstand chair movement. Layer a slightly smaller, luxuriously soft vintage Persian or plush low-shag geometric wool rug directly over the base, allowing the neutral fringe to frame the artistic upper layer. Ensure the top rug is wide enough so chair legs remain on it even when pulled out.
