Apocalypse Apothecary Specimen Jars
Turn your kitchen counter or bookshelf into a mad scientist’s laboratory with a collection of eerie apothecary specimen jars. Gather glass jars, bottles, and vials of various shapes and sizes. Fill them with water dyed with food coloring—think murky greens, deep ambers, and bloody reds—and submerge creepy-crawly items like plastic spiders, rubber eyeballs, faux brains, and skeletal hands. To make the specimens look truly aged, distress the outside of the jars using mod podge mixed with a drop of brown paint to simulate decades of dust and grime.
Print out custom, vintage-style apothecary labels with names like “Essence of Nightshade,” “Werewolf Venom,” or “Pickled Newt Eyes,” and tea-stain them before gluing them to the jars.
