8. Phantom Rowing Boat
If you are fortunate enough to have a garden pond, lake, or large water feature, a phantom rowing boat is the ultimate show-stopping decoration. Secure an old, rustic wooden rowboat in the center of the water. Inside the boat, place a solitary, cloaked figure—constructed from a lightweight frame and draped in weather-resistant black fabric—holding a wooden oar, as if silently navigating the dark waters.
To elevate this display, install a low-lying fog machine near the water’s edge or directly inside the boat to let a thick mist roll across the surface of the water. Illuminate the boat from below with submerged blue or green LED spotlights, which will make the water glow and cast eerie reflections of the skeletal oarsman. The combination of water, mist, and light creates a breathtakingly somber and cinematic scene straight out of a classic ghost story.
